Today Im Off Its Wedding Time!

Dearly beloved,

We are gathered here to celebrate the union of two hearts :) Thats right! Me and my lovely husband are away for the weekend in order to kick some dancing shoes at our very own wedding. Yes, I know that we already had the Civil Wedding but today we shall have the Church Ceremony and the Grand Party with our friends and family.
Happy is the man who finds a true friend, and far happier is he who finds that true friend in his wife.

If you care to join us at the Church, do come today at 13:00 hours @ St. Piotr and Pawel Church - here in our very own Krakow on Grodzka, very close to the city center. Fear not if you see loads of people and bikes and policemen running around. We did not think it through and we have the wedding on the exact same date when Tour de Pologne passes through Krakow.

So if you wish to drop by and see me in a white-green dress walking toward my awesome husband inside the unique baroque church - the biggest of the historic Churches of Kraków in terms of seating capacity... now you might wonder why we picked that :p - you can always drop by and have a peek ;)

The Church of Saints Peter and Paul is the first structure in Kraków designed entirely in the Baroque style, and perhaps the first Baroque building in present-day Poland. It was funded by the King Zygmunt III Waza for the Jesuit order. The plan of the church as a cruciform basilica was drafted by an Italian architect Giovanni de Rossi. His design was carried out by Józef Britius at first (from 1597), and then modified by Giovanni Maria Bernardoni. The final shape of the present day façade, the dome and its Baroque interior belongs to Giovanni Battista Trevano, who completed them in the years 1605–1619. The Church was ceremonially consecrated on 8 July 1635.

In the years 1809–1815, at the time of the Partitions of Poland, the place of worship served as an Orthodox church. Since 1842 until now, it belongs to the Roman Catholic All Saints parish. In 1960 the church was raised to the rank of the Smaller Basilica.

To tell you the truth, I always loved this church. It is my second fav church - the first one being the more famous St. Mary Church in the Main Market Square - but the best when in comes to acoustics. I remember one of my first church concerts I attended in Krakow was in this very church. It was around 8 PM - summertime - and there were a lot of Chopin pieces and pieces from the Schindlers List soundtrack. The sounds just stuck to my head and they followed me until the very day I realised that it would be lovely if we could have the Church Ceremony there. A huge plus comes from the facts that the priests from there know multiple languages and thus we are able to have today a Polish-English ceremony :) Anyway... hope you lads/lasses have an awesome weekend. See you later on ;) after I catch my breath :)

Yours truly,
